  • For the 125th Anniversary of Haymarket memorial, community, labor, faith and immigrant rights leaders will announce plans for the May 1st march. The struggle for justice for immigrants and workers continues with a march to highlight hard working families who have been separated through deportations, and are struggling to provide basic necessities like food, rent, healthcare and transportation while working at some of the richest corporations in the country.ICIRR is dedicated to promoting the rights of immigrants and refugees to full and equal participation in the civic, cultural, social, and political life of our diverse society.In partnership with our member organizations, the Coalition educates and organizes immigrant and refugee communities to assert their rights; promotes citizenship and civic participation; monitors, analyzes, and advocates on immigrant-related issues; and, informs the general public about the contributions of immigrants and refugees.   • “International Workers’ Day is a celebration of the international labour movement that occurs on May Day, May 1, a traditional Spring holiday in much of Europe.   • “On Sunday, May 4, the International Committee of the Fourth International will hold an international online rally to celebrate May Day 2014. The purpose of this rally, which will be open to listeners from all over the world, is to reclaim the revolutionary socialist traditions of this historic day of international working class solidarity.

  • “Havana, Cuba, Apr 11.- Cuban health workers will lead the massive march that will be stage at Havana’s Revolution Square to mark International Workers Day on May 1st.

    Doctor Raquel Toledo, member of the Health Workers Union told the Cuban News Agency that over 50 thousand workers in the sector will march on May Day leading the huge march in support of the call by President Raul Castro to stage a resounding demonstration.

  • “THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend a May Day event to honour the lives of rail union leader Bob Crow and veteran politician and campaigner Tony Benn.

    The two legendary figures, who died within days of each other last month, will be remembered at a special event in London on May 1.

    Organisers said they wanted to send out a message of: “Don’t mourn – Organise.”

    A march will be held to Trafalgar Square for a rally addressed by speakers from the labour and trade union movement.

    Tony Lennon, chief steward from the London May Day Organising Committee, said: “This year’s London May Day presents a huge opportunity for the trade unions and the community to both pay tribute to the massive contribution made by Bob Crow and Tony Benn to the fight for workers’ rights and to send out the clear message that the battle goes on.
